Enrolling a New Student
Before you add a new student to PowerSchool it is important to check to see if the student record already exists in PowerSchool. Not performing this step may lead to creating duplicate students in the system.
Step 1: Search for an existing student record by typing a “/” before the first few letters of the student’s last name.
This will reveal any matches in the database for both new and old students. For example, to search for any inactive students with the last name of Grand you would type /Grand.
If no match is found, you will receive a search alert that says there are no results. You are now ready to create a new student in PowerSchool!
Step 2: Enrolling Your Student
1. Click on “Enroll New Student” from the home page
2. Enter the information in the sections highlighted in red. All of the other information on this page can be entered at a later time if you are trying to make a quick enrollment.
3. Click Submit when done.
Students Name (Last, First Middle)
This is a required field for first and last names. Use the students legal name as it appears on the birth certificate.
Enrollment Date
This is the first day that the student will attend class(es) at your school. It will be pre-populated with the current date but you may need to adjust this if you are performing a late or early enrollment.
Full Time Equivalency
This field is setup for attendance reasons and is required to submit the page. Most schools will only have one value in this field to choose.
School Entry Date
This is date the student first attended your school.
Remember: If you entered today’s date as the date of enrollment on the new student registration screen the class or sections enrollments must also match this date otherwise there will be an ADA discrepancy when running your attendance reports.
